    J. H. Watson, 1842-1934, merchant and historian, was Honorary Research Secretary for the Royal Australian Historical Society, 1915-1934

    The origins of St. Mary's Towers go back to 1841 when Major Mitchell began to build the house he called Park Hill. In 1860 it was purchased by Dr Robert Lewis Jenkins, who added to the building and changed its name to Nepean Towers. In 1904 the residence was sold to the Society of Missionaries of Sacred Heart and renamed St Mary's Towers
