    Identification disc engraved, "Presb. 1310, Pte. Con Allen, 2nd Bm., 1st Bd., A.I.F."

    ITEM 03
    First World War Mothers and Widows Badge.
    This was issued to the mother and/or widow of all members of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) or the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force who had been killed in action, died of wounds or other causes while on active service, or who, after discharge, had died of wounds or sickness directly attributable to that service.

    The black ribbon is machine-embroidered in gold with wattle sprigs, a Rising Sun badge and the words "For Australia". The badge is suspended from a white metal bar which bears laurel leaves. Stars were added to the bottom bar, each indicating the death of one man.

    ITEM 04
    The Victory Medal
    Medal inscribed "The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919", and on verso, a winged figure of victory.
    Those who served on the establishment of a unit in a theatre of war.

    ITEM 05
    The British War Medal - 1914-1920
    Medal with the bust of King George V, and on the verso, St. George of horse back, 1914-1918.
    Army and Air Force - entry into a theatre of war on duty, or who left places of residence and rendered approved overseas service between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918.

    ITEM 06
    The 1914-1915 Star
    Medal is shape of a star with crown, crossed swords and a ribbon in red, white and blue. Engraved with C.H. Allen.
    Awarded for service on the establishment of a ship or unit in a theatre of war. A member awarded the 1914 Star could not be awarded the 1914-15 Star.

    ITEM 07
    Memorial Plaque
    The large, round, bronze Memorial Plaque which was to accompany the Memorial Scroll shows Britannia and a lion on the front, surrounded by the inscription He died for freedom and honour. The full name of Con H. Allen is engraved on the right hand side of the plaque. No rank, unit or decorations are shown, symbolising the equality of sacrifice of all casualties.
