    Mrs Alison Stewart, nee Amos wrote the history of the Church when she was a student in Armidale Teachers College
  • Scope and Content
    The manuscript describes the history of religious development which created the stimulus for the establishment and maintenance of the Church. It also includes background information on the district and town of Barraba, NSW. Settlement followed the exploration of the area in 1818. In 1847 the Diocese of Newcastle was established and included Barraba, NSW. In 1869 when the diocese of Armidale and Grafton was formed, Barraba, NSW, came under its administration. In 1870 land was purchased in Barraba, NSW, and in 1876 or 1877 the Church was completed. In 1905 the Church was dismantled and the site sold. In 1904 the present site was purchased and the new Church was completed in 1909
