    William Robert Alphonse Guilfoyle, 1840-1912, was a landscape gardener and botanist. He was a director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, from 1873 to 1909. He extended and remodeled the landscape of the Gardens. At his request, an officer of the Gardens wrote the above MS which covers the establishment, administration and development of the Gardens and includes two coloured charts of the Gardens, 1873 and 1900
