    Norman Lindsay (1879-1969) was a significant contributor to The Lone Hand, a monthly Australian magazine of literature and poetry founded in 1907 by J. F. Archibald and Frank Fox. The Lone Hand was a sister magazine to The Bulletin, another magazine for which Lindsay worked for over 50 years.

  • Scope and Content
    Watercolour design for cover of magazine showing image of a horse and rider in front of a background of trees.

    The Lone Hand banner has been drawn across the top of image and a lower margin has been attached with printers instructions on colours in Lindsay's hand. Image and lower margin have been joined together and attached to a backing card.

    The design does not appear to have been used on any published copy of the Lone Hand.
