Alexander Smail, 1816-1867, married Margaret Moore on 7 December 1847. The Small family were prominent bakers and shipping suppliers in Miller's Point Sydney, NSW, between ca. 1850 and the 1930's. Margaret Smail purchased a property at Clarence Town in the county of Durham, NSW from Lawrence Kendall in 1870. This property was lot number 161, which was originally granted to John Hickey Grose on 30 April, 1840. Margaret Smail died on 12 November 1870, leaving each of her seven children an equal share in this property. One of her daughters, Isabella Robina Small, married William George Davidson on 12 July 1883. William Davidson became a trustee for 'Smail's estate'. The property at Clarence Town was, at the time, a part of this estate. Isabella Davidson eventually acquired full interest in this property. William and Isabella Davidson had a son, Charles George Davidson, and two daughters, Vera Davidson and Ivy Isobel Rosemond. Isabella left the property at Clarence Town to Ivy Isobel Rosemond
