  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

In 1924 the NSW state government awarded Associated General Electric Industries (AGE) with the contract to supply equipment for the electrification of Sydney suburban railways. The company established its factory at Lidcombe/Auburn and in 1930 merged with Metropolitan Vickers Australia, (M.V.A.). The velodrome at Wyatt Park was beside the AGE factory site. In 1977 AGE exchanged its 17 acre Auburn site for land in Silverwater from the NSW Government. Wyatt Park was redeveloped to include the old AGE factory site to become a large sporting complex for a range of sports, including netball and basketball. The site was on the corner of Church, Percy and Boorea Streets, Auburn.
