William Shoobridge was a hop grower at Providence Valley near Hobart, Tasmania. He died in 1836 leaving his property to his children including Mary who married Edward Lewis Moore of Sydney, NSW. Mary and Edward Moore had one son, Lewis who was born in 1824. David Moore, a photographer, was born in Sydney, NSW, the son of John D. Moore, an architect and painter. In 1948, David Moore went to work for the photographer Max Dupain in Sydney and in 1951 travelled to England where he worked as a freelance photographer
