Painting was owned by Dorothy Moulds of the Norwood Galleries in Kent Town, South Australia. A photograph of the work was given to the Library in 1970 and the current whereabouts of the painting are unknown.
  • Scope and Content
1 photographic print of a painting based on an 1840s drawing referred to as 'native encampment', by John Skinner Prout (DGD 16). The painting depicts three Indigenous figures sitting in traditional bark shelters, with some noticeable differences from Prout's original: the simplified styling of the landscape and figures, and the absence of various details included in Prout's drawing, such as a small dog resting outside of the occupied shelter, and two objects in the unoccupied shelter.
