- Collection historyOriginal painting by Joseph Fowles was purchased by the donor from Bradshaw's Antiques in Woollahra, being sold on behalf of a private client, in about 1971. The donor provided a photograph of the work to the Library in 1972 and the current whereabouts of the painting are unknown.
- Scope and Content1 black and white photographic print of an original oil painting by Joseph Fowles depicting the sinking of a sailing ship in stormy seas, and a lifeboat filled with people from onboard.
