  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

After the death of Henry Lawson in 1922, it was decided to honour the memory of this writer by erecting a suitable monument to him. The Henry Lawson Memorial Fund was established and the Organizing Committee conducted a competition in an effort to find the most appropriate design and sculptor for this work. George Lambert was selected and the memorial statue was unveiled in the Domain, Sydney, N.S.W. in 1931. This material holds photographs and examples of some of the submissions to the competition.
