  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Colonel R. W. Savage was involved in the Scouting movement from 1920 and the Sydney Bush Walkers from 1930. Also an amateur photographer, he did all of his own processing including enlarging and glass slide making. After WWII he changed to using predominately kodachrome slides

    53 photographic prints taken on a bushwalking trip to the Yerranderie-Colong area, April 1931. The trip was made by Robert Savage and his brother 'Harry' who feature in some of the scenic pictures of Colong Caves, Kowmung River, Boyd Range, Boyd River, Kanangra Walls, Mount Maxwell, Kanangra Gorge, The Pinnacles, Caves House. All photographs are described beneath in the album

    84 photographic prints taken on a canoeing trip along the Kowmung, Coxs and Wollondilly Rivers, November 1932. Includes short manuscript letter enclosed loose in the album addressed to R. W. Savage regarding the trip. Photographs show the group carrying the canoe to the river, camping scenes, panning for gold, canoeing and river views, post marking 'Hoy's' gold mining claim, Bulga Dennis Canyon. All photographs are described beneath in the album
