  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sir Charles Gregory Wade (1863-1922), judge, parliamentarian and Premier of NSW, was born at Singleton, NSW, son of William Burton Wade, an engineer, and his wife Anne, nee Duguid. He was educated at All Saints College, Bathurst, The King's School, Parramatta and University of Oxford where he read law. Wade was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1886 and was appointed KC in 1906. He was elected member of the NSW Legislative Assembly for the seats of Willoughby (1903-1904) and Gordon (1904-1917). Wade was appointed Attorney-General (1904-1910), Minister of Justice (1904-1909) and Premier of NSW (1907-1910). On his retirement from parliament in 1917 Wade was appointed agent-general in London. In 1919 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of NSW. [ref:ADB 12]
