  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Kooroora Club, a business women's service organization, was formed by a group of 20 young women at the Waratah Cafe in Gowing's Building in 1929. The initial aim of the club was to support St Luke's Hospital, and it contributed to many other charities before winding up in 1969. The club concluded its activities with a grant to the Department of Social Studies at the University of Sydney for the establishment of the Kooroora Foundation. --

    Loose handwritten captions supplied with photographs:

    Mobile canteen donated to Salvation Army for work in New Guinea during War. All costs of maintenance of supplies borne by Club.
    Mobile canteen donated to Salvation Army & equipped by Kooroora Club for service in New Guinea.
