    40. Australia's most historic ram. Peppin's famous ram "Emperor" with one of the Peppin boys (probably Fred) photographed soon after being shorn at Wanganella in 1865. Photo given to W. G. H. by Mr A. T. J. Albert Austin[?] who, with Mr T. Miller[?], bought the Wanganella double stud from Peppin & Sons in 1878 [envelope marked "Emperor, father of the Australian Merino / W. G. Henderson", discarded]
