In 1981 the Ethnic Affairs Commission of New South Wales undertook an oral history project about immigration to Australia from 1939 to 1988 as part of a federal bicentennial history project. People who had migrated from Europe in this period were interviewed about life in their native countries and their experiences afterwards as migrants in Australia.
