Please acknowledge:: Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales - General note
This photograph was originally entered in the accession register as "Portrait of boxer, possibly at Ophir". The basis for this is not known as there is no Mitchell Library correspondence file for this item and no information about its provenance; maybe it is an inference based on the location "Wellington" printed on the mount. Havilah Uren fought three matches between March and June 1924 in Wellington, NZ (http://boxrec.com/, accessed 14/12/2012), where there was also a publican called Jim Frobisher (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/, various references). As these dates coincide closely with Uren's inscription dated 2 July 1924, "Wellington" may more likely be Wellington, NZ. - Conservation note
