    Sketches, sketchbooks, watercolours, keepsake books and photograph albums of the Watson family, including Alexa, Sarah Jessie and Emily.

    BOX 1

    Red album with gold leaf tooling on cover. Contains greeting cards and picture scraps from magazines. Some original watercolours by Alexa Watson.

    Green album containing pencil and watercolour drawings. Inscription inside cover, "Jessie Watson, Walwa 1867, Murray River, Australia, N.S.Wales". Some are loose, many are signed and captioned on back.

    Green album containing pencil and watercolour drawings. Inscription inside cover, "Alexa Watson, Walwa, Upper Murray". Some are loose, signed and captioned.

    Small brown album, inscribed "Jessie Watson". Album was once a musical score pad. Contains scraps from magazines with original pencil and watercolour drawings. One is titled, "Private theatricals at Walwa, Jan 1867. Man about town", followed by drawings of 6 scenes. Also contains manuscript notes usually transcriptions of jokes and poems.

    Yellow drawing book sketch pad of Alexa Watson, Walwa. Contains pencil and watercolour drawings of flowers and ferns.

    Green drawing book sketch pad covered in brown paper. Inscribed inside cover, "Baron von Mullar named flowers about 1853-54. Painted with dye. Paintings by Alexa Watson ... of wild flowers, Upper Murray District". Contains watercolour drawings of wild flowers.

    Folder of loose family photographs.
    Folder of photograph, inscribed on back, "Sydney G. Watson, from Jessie G. Watson, studio in Paris". Image as a cross above Jessie, with other girls being prepared for a photograph.

    BOX 2

    Large brown leather photograph album, tooled cover and gold leaf edging. Title page, "Friends & flowers, an album. Marcus Ward & Co." Photographs of the Watson and Black family. Not all photographic spaces have been filled. Most images are captioned.

    Red album titled, "Scraps". Contains greeting cards and original watercolours. Some have the initials "S.J.W." Some are dated "78", ie. 1878. Includes many watercolours of Australian native plants.
