    Bert Oldfield played 54 tests for Australia as a wicketkeeper. He came to prominence with the AIF team in 1919 and moved into Test cricket during the 1920-21 series against England. He toured England in 1921, 1926, 1930 and 1934 and South Africa in 1921-22 and 1935-36.
    During World War I Oldfield served with the 15th Field Ambulance in France. On the outbreak of World War II he was commissioned lieutenant in the 17th Battalion, rising to the rank of major in 1943.
