1 medal - bronze and blue enamel with blue and white ribbon in red leather satin and velvet lined case:
1 medal - gold with royal and light blue ribbon in black velvet and satin case:

On 23 January 1940 a 13 year old boy, Maxwell Farrin, was swimming at North Brighton Beach in Botany Bay when he was attacked by a shark. Even though the shark was still circling the boy Sidney Owen swam out and brought him to the shore. Unfortunately he died a few minutes later.
