- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
The fisheries trade had difficulty in keeping ova alive under artificial conditions en route to Tasmania. Youl experimented with placing the live ova packed in moss in the ship's ice-house. Travelling on the 'Norfolk' after 91 days in 1864, the first successful delivery of living ova was made to the River Plenty in Tasmania. - Scope and ContentPhotograph of plaque honouring Sir James Youl.
