  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Emile Mercier was born in New Caledonia and moved to Sydney in 1919. He worked as a freelance cartoonist for Smiths Weekly, the Bulletin, Truth and Daily Mirror. From 1948 until his retirement in 1968 he was employed by the Sydney Sun.

    Cartoon by Emile Mercier appeared in Smith's Weekly, December 21, 1940. Original cartoon together with newspaper cutting of an article titled 'Antics in the Art Attic' are attached to board.
