  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Lionel Arthur Krone was an agricultural journalist who worked for ‘The Pastoralists Review’. He wrote ‘Pastoral Homes of Australia’ which was published between 1910 and 1914. During World War I he served as a reinforcement driver. From ca. 1948 to ca. 1974 he managed the Krone Trading Co. Pty. Ltd and The Pastoral Publicity Co.

    Martin Frank Stainforth 91866-1957) was a British-born artist best known for his portraits of thoroughbred racehorses. He worked in Australia between 1908 and 1930.

    Approx. 250 photographs of pastoral properties, pastoralists, horses, sheep and rural views. Properties and places identified include: Kickibill station (Quirindi), The Manor (Werribee, Vic.), Padthaway, Twin Peaks, Kings Plains (Glen Innes), Glen Iris, Yellalong station, Colona station, Gawlor Ranges, Capertee Valley, Yarraman North station, Bando, Kyawanna, Mudgee, Meerogoolia (W.A.), Gunyerwarildi, Wallanga homestead (Inverell), Boolooroo homestead (Moree), Longarm (Barraba), Bald Blair, Ardgour station. Portraits of Lionel Krone
    are also included.
