  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Elaine Kitchener was born in Florida, USA, and moved to Australia in 1971. She trained at the Australian Centre for Photography in Paddington, NSW, and through associations with Ande Evans-Maddox, writer and film-maker, and Bobbi Sykes, editor of AIM and Koori Bina, Kitchener became involved with the Aboriginal community and fostered a desire to record key moments in the demonstration of Aboriginal culture and politics. She has worked closely with various government funded Aboriginal organisations as well as individuals, such as MumShirl and Charles Perkins, widely regarded as community leaders
