    Stanley Walling was born John Stanley Graham in 1885 in Victoria. He was a talented solo trombonist as well as member of various Sydney bands such as the Metropolitan Band (conducted by John Palmer), Rockdale Municipal Band (conducted by J.C. Walker) and Rozelle Champion Band (conducted by W.M. Partington). He was author of the book 'Technical studies, slide trombone' published by Allan & Co., Melbourne, [1917]. His wife was a renowned New Zealand singer.
