Hazel Jones' was a community and political activist including membership of the Communist Party of Australia, from which she resigned in 1973, and of the East Villawood Progress Association of which she was Secretary. She was appointed Justice of the Peace in the late 1960s. In the mid-1970s she was Treasurer of World University Service in Australia. At the time of her death, Hazel was Records Manager of the Mandela Foundation in Australia.

These are her papers from the East Villawood Progress Association which fought a successful community campaign against the building of units on recreational ground, which became Thurina Park.
