  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Rev. John Waterhouse (1789-1842) was appointed Superintendent of Wesleyan Missions to Australasia and Polynesia, arriving in Hobart Town with his wife Jane Beadnell, nee Skipsey, and their ten children in 1839. His son, Jabez Bunting Waterhouse (1821-1891), also became a Methodist minister, preaching throughout Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales. Two other sons, Joseph (1828-1881) and Samuel (1830-1918), served as missionaries in Fiji and also ministered throughout Victoria. Gustavus John Waterhouse (1851-1929) was the son of Jabez Bunting Waterhouse.
