    Christiana Eliza Brooks arrived with her husband, Captain Richard Brooks, in NSW in 1814. In 1823 they moved to Denham Court, near Liverpool. Their daughter, Jane Maria, married Edward Cox of Mulgoa on 18 April 1827, and another daughter, Christiana, who married Lieutenant Thomas Valentine Blowfield, lived on the Hunter River at Morpeth.

    Mrs P. G. (Patricia) Thompson is a descendant of Christiana Eliza Brooks.

  • Scope and Content
    The diary and letters describe economic and social conditions in the colony of NSW, including currency problems, the Bank of New South Wales, wheat and wool prices, convict transportation, arrivals and departures of shipping in Port Jackson, the judiciary, the colonial government, the military, the press, Aborigines, bushrangers, convicts and public entertainment; and physical conditions including distance and climate. There is also comment on the Brooks family and friends, Denham Court and the Liverpool-Campbelltown area, Dr Henry Grattan Douglass, and Governors Brisbane and Darling.
