  • Scope and Content
    This medal was awarded to Miles Franklin’s nephew (son of Norman & Irene Franklin), Norman John Franklin for his service with the Royal Australian Air Force (see documents from The Commonwealth. Dept. of Air, Melbourne, S.G.I regarding campaign stars. MLMSS 139/113X, no. 223, 225).

    Ribbon: “Dark green with red edges and central yellow stripe and two narrow stripes, one dark blue and the other light blue. This ribband is worn with the dark blue stripe furthest from the left shoulder -- Anzac Day Organisation website.

    Obverse: the Royal and Imperial cypher in the centre, surmounted by a crown. Cypher is surrounded by a circlet bearing the name of the star. Legend: The 1939-1945 Star. Reverse: blank
