    The Fitzgerald family were Irish. Robert Appleyard Fitzgerald and his family settled in New South Wales in 1951. Fitzgerald family members became prominent citizens of New South Wales. The story of the Fitzgerald family crest is written up in the book Memoirs of my mother (1962), by Marguerite Mary Fairfax, 1962, a descendant of the Fitzgerald family. Her story seems to be based on the manuscript entitled Crom - A - Boo.

    The collection includes a letter by Robert Appleyard Fitzgerald to C. S. McDouall, 1841; newscuttings, 1933, a manuscript of the Fitzgerald family crest entitled Crom - A - Boo, 196-; and a family tree of the Fitzgerald family, William Fitzgerald, 17-- - 1965, 1965-
