  One side shows full face figure of Christopher Columbus, and inscribed top right hand corner 'PLVS VLTR CHRISTOPHER COLVMBUS OCT XII MCCCCXCII'. Below feet of figure 'AVGVSTVS SAINT GAVDENS FECIT'.
  
  On the reverse angels above plaque inscribed with title, date and recipient's name. Below this is Columbus' ship in relief and beneath it 'C E BARBER FECIT'.
