The City of Sydney Eisteddfod was one of the principal activities of the Citizens of Sydney Organising Committee which organised many celebrations and events. The Citizens Committee was co-opted by Act of Parliament to organise celebrations for the 150th Anniversary of the landing of Captain Phillip. The committee dissolved in 1948, but the Eisteddfod continued. (Information from correspondence 593/1961)
