  • Scope and Content
    1. Paper knife made from timber of the barque "Boyd". Captain Thompson, captured by the Maoris and the crew massacred at [Whangarei], New Zealand 1809. Recovered after being over 80 years under water.
    2. Part of stern of whaler "Chance".
    3. A piece of Scotch Black Oak taken from the Tomb of King [James] III of Scotland who was killed at the Battle of [Sauchieburn] near Stirling, and buried in Cambuskenneth Abbey in 1488. This piece was taken from the Tomb when it was being renewed by the Town Council of Stirling in 1864.
