The drug and chemical manufacturing company of Elliott Brothers was founded in 1859, with premises in Martin Place, Sydney, New South Wales. In the early 1860s the company moved to Rozelle, New South Wales. In 1929 there was a merger of some wholesale druggists under the name of Drug Houses of Australia, a holding company of which Elliott Brothers Limited became an Associate House. Elliott Brothers Limited merged with The Australian Drug Co. Ltd. in 1931, retaining its original name. Another merger in 1944 saw the firm renamed Beetle Elliott Plastics (Pty) Ltd. After some more changes, the company in 1988 became Chemplex Pty. Ltd.
