    Edward Sparke, law clerk of Waratah, New South Wales was born in Newcastle and enlisted in the Infantry, A.I.F. at Sydney, Aug. 1914 aged 19. He embarked on board Transport A14 Euripides, 20 Oct. 1914 and served with the 1st Battalion in Egypt, Gallipoli and France. He was wounded at Bullecourt, France May 1917 and was invalided to Australia on HMAT Euripides, 19 Sept. 1917. He died of pneumonic influenza, 26 June 1919, aged 24
