    Note by donor on back of frame states 'Record in a directory 1844 of T.H. Smart at Mona [the initials shouls be T.W. - Thomas Ware Smart] The detached building is the picture gallery - it contained a number of famous pictures including "The Market Cart" by Gainsborough, see "Some Houses and Peoples of New South Wales by G. Nesta Griffiths" [and below this] "Mona" Darling Point Up to 1905 incorporated "Mona" of 1844 - the grounds being then subdivided and the picture gallery and stables demolished. Home of the Rowe family (Thomas) Rowe Street Sydney was named in his honour'
