  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Rotary Club of Sydney, alongside The Rotary Club of Melbourne, was amongst the first Rotary Clubs established in Australia. It was chartered on 7 May 1921 and held its first meeting at Farmers in Pitt Street on May 17. The meeting was attended by Layton Ralston and James W. Davidson from Canada who were commissioned by Rotary International.

In keeping with the principles of Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Sydney uses its membership of business and professional leaders to serve the community, often in partnership with charity organisations. As part of its service, The Rotary Club of Sydney has founded the New South Wales Society for Crippled Children (later The Northcott Society), and established Police & Citizens Boys' Clubs in New South Wales, The Mt Eliza Executive School and International House, a residential college for university students.
