    2 stereoscopic viewers. Each viewer also has a wooden and metal stereoscope card holder which slides onto the viewer
  • General note

    Part of the Sir William Dixson negative collection.
  • Signatures / Inscriptions

    The metalic frames around the lenses for both stereoscopes have been stamped 'Pat'd July 28.03' [i.e. 1903] and the wooden body of each stereoscope is stamped 'Pat'd 'Oct. 15. 95' [i.e. 1895]. Each viewer's aluminium hood is embossed with the American Eagle.
  • Attributions / conjectures

    Probably manufactured by H. C. White who was the largest producer of stereoscopes in the world. Identification made by the friction joint handle hinge, the brass clip on the card holder and the embossed American Eagle on the aluminium hood.
