John Drummond Macpherson Moore (1888-1958) set up a practice as an architect in 1919 and instructed in architectural design at the University of Sydney from that date until 1935. He was a partner in Wardell, Moore and Dowling from 1927. Most of his architecture was domestic. He won the Sulman prize for the West wing of Frensham School, Mittagong in 1937. He also painted, having trained at the Julian Ashton’s Sydney Art School and between 1925 and 1951 held 8 exhibitions at the Macquarie Galleries, Sydney. He was the father of Australian photographer, David Moore.

These two plans are for the original house 'Whitley' and a subsequent alteration, 13 years later. The house was owned by Justice William Francis Langer Owen.

William Francis Langer Owen joined the Bar in 1923 and in 1937 he was made a full judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
