  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Jean Chesney Harte, trained as a home science teacher from 1925-1928 and taught in primary and secondary schools including country areas until she was transferred to Physical Education later teaching at Parramatta High School. In 1944 she commenced a period as Physical Education Supervisor and in 1951 was appointed Assistant Director of Physical Education in primary and secondary girls schools in New South Wales. From 1950-60 she produced physical education display for the Royal Easter Show involving some 1500-2000 secondary students. She also choreographed school displays for Royal Visits including that of Princess Alexandra of Kent. For 15 years she presented an ABC radio schools programme on folk dancing until her retirement in 1970.
