    Gunner O. Melly, miner of Haymarket, NSW enlisted aged 43, 9 May 1916 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A30 Borda, 17 Oct. 1916. He served 9 months in France and Belgium in the 1st Medium Artillery, 3rd Reinforcements, Heavy Truck Motor Battery, A.I.F. in the battle areas of Ypres and Bullecourt. He was sent to England to convalesce from the effects of gas, returning to France in Feb. 1918
