    J. J. McLean, labourer of Darlinghurst, Sydney was 21 years old when he enlisted at Longreach, Queensland, 14 May 1915 as a private with the 25th Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces. He embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A60 Aeneas on 29 June 1915 and served at Gallipoli and in France where he was wounded, 5 Aug. 1916. He was hospitalised in England and was discharged in Sydney 7 Nov. 1917
