    Robert Buntine was born on 11 July 1830 in Fenwick Ayrshire, Scotland. He emigrated on 26 September 1838 from Fenwick Ayrshire Scotland aboard the barque "William Rodger" with parents Hugh Buntine and Mary Symington.

    John Symington was born, Fenwick Ayrshire, Scotland in 1812 and died on 20 December 1877. He married Elizabeth Gebbie Lindsay in 1837 in Scotland.

    1. Letter from Robert Buntine to John Symington, 10 March 1856
    Addressed to his uncle `Joiner, Greenock, Scotland', it describes life in Australia as an immigrant and some issues faced as a result of the gold discovery.

    2. Letter addressed to `uncle', November 185-?
    Addressed to `uncle' at Eglington Park. It describes the departure from Gourock, Scotland aboard the vessel `Glenroy', the attack by Irish pirates and the voyage taking 14 weeks before landing on November 4th.
