Signed 'H Stuart Wilson', at lower centre. Dated from pencil inscription on backing board. Titled, in pencil, at lower left 'Bogambil'/or Bill Collins'.

Inscribed in pencil on backing board, 'No 1/Study of an Aboriginal/at Brungle/Joe Collin [?]/ by H. Stuart-Wilson/1897'.

Taped to the reverse side of the backing board is a piece of brown paper, inscribed in ink, 'Carrie Freeman/No.2/Study of an Aboriginal/at Brungle N.S.W./By H. Stuart-Wilson'. This inscription, which is filed with (P2/338), appears to have been attached in error when compared with a portrait by H. Stuart-Wilson at (P2/337).
