  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Frederick Leonard Edmonds, carpenter of Redfern, N.S.W., was born in England and lived in Sydney, serving four years in the Parramatta B Squad Light Horse before enlisting at the age of 25 with A.I.F. 7th Field Company Engineers in Sept. 1915. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A23 Suffolk, 22 Dec. 1915 and served as driver in Egypt 1916-1917. He was appointed acting Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant and attached to Captain Frank Hurley, official photographer in Egypt and Sinai, Dec. 1917-Feb.1918. After returning to permanent rank of Company Quarter Master Sergeant, a period in the Camel Transport Corp Mar. 1918 and hospitalisation May 1918 he returned to Australia on H.T. Wiltshire, 30 Aug. 1918
