Thomas Darchy, station manager of Alma, Rowena, New South Wales was born in Wentworth, New South Wales. He was 36 years old when he enlisted on 18 Jan. 1917, and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A72 Beltana, 16 June 1917. He served as a corporal with the 1st Pioneer Battalion, 11th Reinforcement. He was wounded in action in France, 18 Sept. 1918 and returned to Sydney on 9 May 1919
