    Eric Roy Clarke, clerk of Fairfield, New South Wales enlisted aged 22 years and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A34 Persic, 18 Nov. 1915 to serve as Company Sergeant Major in Australian Army Service Corps, 4th Divisional Train. He served in Egypt 21 Dec. 1915-June 1916 and in France 12 June 1916-Nov. 1916. He was wounded on 23 Nov. 1916 and was sent to England arriving there 12 Dec. 1916. He returned to Australia on hospital ship Kanowna, 15 July 1917
