1 sketchbook (pencil drawings and 1 watercolour) - 13 x 19 cm

The sketchbook has been used from both ends, so that some sketches are upside down in relation to others. Inside back cover is Stanfield's signature, and there are manuscript notes scattered throughout. One sketch is dated 'Sept.17, 1858'. The sketches are studies of figures, landscapes, sailing ships, one of which is located at Broadstairs; there is a watercolour study titled 'I. of Wight'.

The volume was received with a sketchbook by W.W. Wardell (ML Reference : PXA 379); memoirs of Clarkson are in Wardell's papers (ML Reference : MSS 3728/4, item 11, pp.5-8, 9-12)
