  • General note

    The artist of this picture, painted in 1937, is a young pupil of Julian Ashton who regards him as the cleverest student he has had for many years. Unfortunately he works in a paper factory and gets very little time to pursue his art studies. Mr Ifould admired this drawing in Mr Ashton's studio and Mr Spencer then gave it to him. Mr Ifould accepted it for permanent preservation in the Mitchell Library. (Information from Memo. from W.H.I to Miss Leeson, 29/9/41 Mitchell In Letters 1941/725)
