The picture has been squared for reproduction but it does not appear in the 'Illustrated London News', or in the volumes of Prout's drawings in the Mitchell Library. It is taken from the same place as Tulloch's - Forest Creek, Mt Alexander, in his Gold Diggings of Victoria 1852. - Signatures / Inscriptions
Note on back of drawing, copied onto back of photographic print in pencil, states 'Skinner Prout was sent to Australia by Mr Ingram, editor and owner of the Illustrated London News. This drawing was in the collection of Mr John Sargent R.A. and sold with his remaining works 1925'. - Date note
